Hola!!

The MTC is coming together! Every day it gets more and more organized. This week we got water purifiers in our homes and we also got irons, brooms, and other  essentials! The food has stepped up as well. It is good every meal now. I don't know why it was so different last week, but it's way better!
Everyone at the MTC got sick this past week. Luckily me and my companion escaped without the stomach flu or a cough. (i've been taking my multivitamin and once everyone started to get sick, i took some vitamin C i brought. Mom you should be very proud!) The other companionship we share a room with got sick and one was throwing up during the night on Friday night. My teacher and a few people in my district have even missed class because they couldn't get up. Again, luckily me and my companion have been perfectly fine and I think we are at the tail end of the epidemic.

On sunday i had so many mtgs. They were all great, but a lot...
7-8 Branch Council Meeting (for zone leaders, district leaders, and sister training leaders)
9-10 Relief Society
11-1140 District Mtg (sunday school)
1150-1 Sacrament
2-3 MTC class with president Pratt
3-330 Combined district, zone, and sister training leader mtg
430-6 Devotional broadcasted from the Provo MTC back in January 2013
8-9 movie: we watched Legacy. (you know you have immature boys with you when 2 people in that movie fall in love and kiss and all the boys go.. ewwwwwwww. Either they are immature or... im just way too experienced and immune to that kind of stuff. ;) ))

In the mtg with president pratt some sister asked what he suggested if we hit road bumps while learning spanish. he said,  "you do the same thing while i'm driving... DRIVE FULL SPEED AHEAD."  his wife did not like that answer. haha

I have run a total of 3 miles since being here. This one girl and I run 1 mile on the track while our companions walk a few laps. Its great!

Thats about all i have for this week! We got 2 new "investigators" this week and we are teaching them. My spanish is still improving! :)

Funny story, we were teaching one of our investigators and all of a sudden i couldn't understand what my companion was saying... our investigator wasn't able to understand either... she was speaking GERMAN. She speaks that language too.. crazy!

hope you enjoy! xoxo

This is me (obviously) standing in a place where in case of an emergency we must all gather. There are like 7 all around campus
The homes we live in. mine is the peach color on the left!

Standing at my favorite place on the whole campus... the gravel track! (the B in the background is for the school that used to be here)

Week one! :)

Hola Familia!!
Ive been waiting all week to finally write to you all! My expierence here at the MTC is amazing! I love it!
Aparently we live in a very dangerous area. One of my spanish teachers told us that some of the teachers took a taxi to a nearby walmart and on their way there they saw a dead man on the ground that had just been killed. (he was a drug dealer).... but dont worry we have security 24/7 and we have about a 10 foot brick wall plus  another 10 foot barbed wire fence on top of that, plus some nifty electrical stuff on top of that. We are enclosed in the 90,000 sq. feet fortress!
It rains every single afternoon here. I love it! Good thing i have my umbrella! The weather is perfect. like 70s every day. And even when it rains its still warm!
This was just the 3rd week the MTC was open and so it is still really small and unorganized.
I live in a house with 3 other immediate roommates. 4 others in another room and then native spanish speakers are moving in today for 12 days. One of my roommates told us she was going home on sunday and we were all soo sad. She is from highland and said she just couldnt handle it. however, she changed her mind and is still here! We have maids that come in and take our trash out and also wash our sheets!
The food
The food is alright. It is always a hit or miss. Some meals i love it and other meals I only eat a piece of bread and an apple. They have salad everyday but not ranch dressing, or any dressing for that matter. They give us  their style of pancakes, but no syrup. They do use that chocolate syrup we put on ice cream. Sunday lunch is where they give us ice cream bars! They were sooo good! i cant wait for this next sunday again! The drinks are always so gross and so i get water... thats the only time i can drink water since everywhere else it's dissusting. They gave us a water bottle with a filter in it... but the water is still not too good. They did order purifyers for our houses so hopefully we get those soon!
We have a store on the MTC grounds that we can go to. I go there to buy some nerds and runts... almost everyday... I think thats what is saving me! Thats the only American candy they have! haha We get 120 pesos each week that we have to use or it goes away so i have plently of money to spend on just what i need!
Grandpa and Grandma, i met some hermana in your ward. Her name was Hermana Mangum. She said she graduated from Timpview in 2010. She also said she played basketball. We apparently played agaisnt each other. She admitted she hated my team and that we were known for the mean girls. I tried telling her, i wasn't one of them... i dont know is she beleived me. haha. She will be going to Fort Collins Co.
Sunday is the best day! We have tons of meetings but almost all are in english! I actually understood what people were saying! Sacrament was in spanish however, and the MTC president was at ours. We all had to prepare a talk to give... in spanish... and then they would call you up to speak. My companion got called up, but i escaped. Ill probably give one next week! There are only 20 elders and 4 sisters in my branch. I was also named the Sister traning leader... and so i have an extra mtg on sundays.. (that adds up to 7 meetings)
My zone is awesome. A lot of immature boys... but thats what makes it great. Me and my companion do have to get on them to study sometimes, but for the most part they just make us laugh at their immature little jokes. Most of the Americans here are going back to the states for their missions.
My companion is from Iowa. She is super cute and we get along really well. She went to college for 2 years at St. Olof in Minnesota. She is super smart. She already knows chineese and french. She for sure thought she was going somewhere where you would use one of those two languages.  she is catching on to the spanish sooo quick. Its crazy.
On friday we had to start teaching our first "investigator" for 20 minutes all in spanish. or spanglish. I sat there and understood maybe 10 words. my companion could understand it all but didnt know how to speak back. So she translated it into english for me and then i responded. However, now she can speak back (im telling you she is SO smart) and so now i sit there most of the time! Each lesson i understand more and more.
We got to go to the Mexico City temple today and do a session. The temple was about a 40-45 minute drive. Driving through the town was CRAZY! So many people live here.
Well i think thats it for today! love you all! have a great 24th of July!

Travels to the Mexico MTC

Oh my goodness, it is freaking 2am and they are making us write our familes. (no, im not complaining) i am soooo tired though and these keyboards are totally throwing me off. hahha... and i may be a little out of it.
After we landed in Atlanta i had about a 3 hour layover and then we flew to Mexico. I sat between 2 men, pretty big who both did not speak any english. rough. I was sooo tired. Then we got off and it took some elders forever to find their luggage. Then we went through inspections. I got a green button so my luggage didnt get looked at. Thank heavens. Then we waited for a loooonnnnnggg time because we were missing 6 elders/sisters but we have no idea what flight they were on.
we finally left the airport and our bus driver said it would be a 5 minute drive.... hahaha nope 35 minutes. ahh...
im with a group of 10. 3 of us sisters. those 2 are both going to equador. they are companions here. i have not met mine yet. she is probably asleep since we do have to get up at 630am.
The elders im with just graduated and you can totally tell. They are so immature. its hilarious though. me and sister muir (she went to skyline and played bball and golf and went to byu for 1 year) just laugh at them.
for example one elder was like
so how are we going to fit 4 boys in one room
bunk beds dude
well thats going to stink... especially after we have taco bell.. haha they remind me of my brothers. ¨
(i have no idea where the quotation marks are on this keyboard so i hope you can understand that)
oh, another random fact. sooo everyone runs red lights here apparently if it is clear. our bus driver didnt but everyone around us did. any holy cow there are soo many cops out this late at night. literally one every 3 blocks.
most of the elders are going state side. just one is going with the 2 sisters to equador.
anyways, thats all my info for today. i need some sleep! xoxo be safe! love you!
